Transition to school

At Rainbow Street Public School, we ensure every child’s transition to Kindergarten is smooth, engaging, and developmentally appropriate. Our play‑based learning approach creates meaningful, hands‑on experiences that build confidence while meeting curriculum expectations.

In the first weeks of school our orientation program, based on current research, helps children become familiar with their new environment, routines, and expectations. We prioritise belonging and connection, two key foundations for strong social and academic outcomes. Through guided play, exploration, and collaborative activities, students build friendships, develop independence, and settle comfortably into school life.

Our transition support continues beyond the first term. We partner with families through Parent Information Workshops, offering practical strategies for supporting learning at home in phonics, reading, and numeracy.
