About our school

Rainbow Street Public School is situated in the historic City of Randwick. Our school offers a well-developed and diverse range of facilities and services and is in close proximity to the University of NSW, Prince of Wales Hospital and the Randwick Army Barracks. We have a close liaison with Randwick Boys and Randwick Girls High Schools as well as Rainbow Street Childcare Centre.

The school has a wonderful group of students and families that reflects cultural diversity, as many students are children of people studying at UNSW. Student numbers have been steadily rising as a result of continued excellence in education with an experienced and dedicated staff. We have a school band, choir and an extensive physical education program. We have specialist teachers for students with learning difficulties (STLA) and English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EALD), and a teacher librarian.

Rainbow Street Public School has before and after school and vacation care on site. We also have community language teachers offering Swedish and Chinese language classes outside of school hours.

Rainbow Street Public School has four small classes of students with special needs in our support unit.

Students are supported and nurtured through our student welfare system. We pride ourselves on a culture of caring within a harmonious environment. The school grounds are extensively grassed with sports facilities, native gardens and shade areas.

Learning is inherently valued and is an enjoyable experience in ever increasing high-tech classrooms. Parent involvement and participation is valued and parents are encouraged to participate in their child's education; community support is growing.

Rainbow Street PS pursues academic excellence in a caring environment through the provision of a comprehensive program in the Key Learning Areas (KLA's) and extra curricular activities to broaden each child's experiences. We provide environmental education programs that have assisted in developing civic responsibility and pride. Maintains equity in a caring, supportive and safe environment where parents value the multi-cultural environment and the individual attention students receive. We have four small classes of students who are developmentally delayed who make up our support unit attached to the school.
